The US private shopping club network Gilt is expanding further and is testing Gilt City in New York. Gilt City is a local live shopping site with similarities to Groupon (via VCJosh and Techcrunch):

Nice to see that the live shopping market is showing some life: Woot! is experimenting with its Happy Hour on Twitter; Gilt is testing local live shopping; and Groupon is taking over the world.
After the live shopping topic lay dormant for a half a decade, like always the Americans were the first to recognize the potential and aggressively pursue the opportunity.
