Magento as Foundation for Innovative Shopping Concepts
Sep 19th, 2009 by admin
It's not only the Samwer brothers who are on the current wave of new e-commerce initiatives based on Magento. Just recently converted to Magento is Charles & Marie, a German-American retailer for exclusive designerware. In the Exciting Commerce focus blogs, facets of the new site such as Fab5TV have been heavily reported.

Charles & Marie is building on diversity of presentation and on differentiated marketing methods. Conceptually they are similar to Portero and Portero Private, with some different approaches:
"Whether shopping via e-Commerce, auctions or private sales events, Portero is your ultimate source for new, pristine and pre-owned luxury merchandise at outstanding values. Online luxury shopping has never been more exciting."
A third direction can be seen from the British interior design platform MyDeco. There the multi-shop concept from Magento is deployed, where designers are able to set up their products for sale on the MyDeco site.
Also in the German market is Magento not just found as a standard shop implementation. In June, Preisbock reworked their live shopping site with Magento.
This is a first selection of examples which point out how Magento has been deployed in a variety of ways and combinations. Its not very easy nowadays to find another shop system which has been so flexibly deployed.
Although it cannot be claimed that Magento is optimal in every case. The point is here that we are urgently in need of more flexible e-shopping solutions. There are just not enough options for companies who want to sell in innovative new ways, but at the same time dont want to build a completely customized system from scratch.
