The New Infrastructure for E-commerce
May 7th, 2010 by admin
There were times when e-commerce was all about picking the right shop system. In the meantime, the debate on infrastructure in technology and development departments has evolved. Now the question is: what is the right software framework for a future-ready e-commerce solution?
This question will be keenly debated in Germany from May 6 – 7 at the Oxid Commons conference and from May 31 – June 1 at the Meet-Magento conference (in the cities of Freiburg and Leipzig respectively).
To bring us the right mindset for getting deeper into this forward looking topic, here are two video statements from Oxid CEO Roland Fesenmayr (in German):
We know that the e-commerce market will on the whole be driven very, very strongly by new business models over the next years.
The online catalog which we know so well – product view, product lists, checkout process – will be gradually phased out by networked shopping models. Also vertical barriers between manufacturer, merchant and consumer will increasingly disappear.
the further opening of the platform for both eShop as well as eFire, massive build up of SOAP interfaces, the widgetization of our e-commerce platform. Our vision is to establish Oxid technology as a sort of operating system for e-commerce.
The video statements were taken at the Insight E-commerce conference of last November.
